2018/08/31 - Tender age in bloom
College is going well, folks. Acclimating super quickly, getting into the groove, meeting people. I'm going for dinner in a little bit, as of writing this, and then I'll probably take a stroll up to north campus, if the rain clears up. And really, I love that. No one to check in with, just make sure you're there for classes and do your work. The rest is up to me. Feels fuckin' good, man.
I've been trying to quiet down the shitstirrer side of me here on the Neocities front and continue grinding away on actually interesting, important things. I've got some projects I'm really excited to see happen, and they are happening, and you will see them very soon.
Fire up the stereo for right now though, because we've got a new album review: the creepy, chippy Tender Ass EP from low-bit artist Old Oldman. Don't miss it, great little album. More to come, too. Requests, netlabel stuff, the lot. Alright, pizza.
2018/08/26 - Fall is just something that grownups invented
College is finally upon me. Got all unpacked today, and classes start tomorrow. The "sitting at home for weeks on end like a fucking loser" phase of my life is all but over, and I'm about ready to get back to kicking ass and meeting people.
VDU resolved well enough. Jax relented and gave me the bucket and the database, and I'll look into hosting a mirror on IceQuake. VDU is absolutely not done yet, but for now, it kinda is. Possibly, next time you see it, you could be seeing me too. No promises just yet.
No major site updates this time. If you're going back to school soon (and you're all like 13 so you probably are :eyes:), good luck with everything. Focus on your schoolwork like I'll be doing for once and grind (or coast) through it.

I have a few more things I uploaded to the unplugged section, but mostly, VDU is over.

Wew, I've been fucking busy with this site! Just suddenly really motivated to work on it, I guess. Three new album reviews, Faith No More's Angel Dust and Local H's As Good as Dead, both really quality 90s heavy rock records, and Silversun Pickups' Carnavas, an old favorite of mine. I got a few more coming on the way too, so keep checking back.
Doing some internal reshuffling too, and the big news—I'm adding a section of my site called mariteaux Unplugged. I'm gonna start putting the majority of my writing under that header. It's basically just straight HTML with a bit of color so I don't have to update yet more fucking pages when I wanna play with my footer or something. It's also for stuff I'm not editing as heavily, or things no one but me is interested in. Basically, if you wander into the basement, expect boxes and old furniture. I have some high school essays to add to it in the future, because quantity > quality.
This Penny's Pages article on me is mostly accurate. Because I wrote it myself in like three hours.

It's been weird, coming back to this place. I can't quite tell if people are really happy to have me back or what, but it's just as well, really. School's starting soon. Two weeks or so. I don't have a whole lot to show for the past year, so I'm happy to just keep moving. Be around people again, you know.
My big TCRF writing project on the ten song Guitar Hero II demo is complete, at long last. A month-and-a-half of capturing stills, capturing video, digging through files, and going deeper than anyone else has yet has drawn to a close. I hope someone else finds it interesting. I still have the earlier Official PlayStation Magazine demo to dig through, but that can wait. Let me sleep.
To celebrate, here's a new album review on the Acro-Brats' (one of the Harmonix bands) 2006 release ...Go Down Swinging!. What a listen it was. It's super short, and it's great if you like your punk indie and nasal. I have some more reviews on the way (including yours, yoshi, yes!)
I meant to do more charting, but that takes effort. Here's one I did for my own song though.
Hope life's been swell, kids.
