russian plague simulators
ice-pick lodge is an established indie dev, founded in 2002 by nikolay dybowskiy, with 16(???) employees nestled within the expanse of moscow, russia. they also defy definition a bit, but let's just say that their projects are intended to challenge the medium... a lot.
so far, they have released four original games - pathologic in 2005 (the first english translation came out in 2006), tension in 2008 (and its english/german rerelease, the void in 2009), cargo! the quest for gravity in 2011, and knock-knock in 2013.
the original pathologic was remastered after a pathologic remake/reimagining was announced (now known as pathologic 2, which isn't a sequel) and was rereleased as pathologic classic hd in 2015. they released an individual demo for their pathologic remake called the marble nest in 2016 and released an alpha demo of the full game (now known as pathologic 2) in 2018.
shit's confusing i know. the studio is currently going crazy trying to finish up pathologic 2 after like 4 years of development, which is now an episodic game due to running out of kickstarter money and other irritating russian money problems. the first episode is due "q2 2019".
you can buy everything they've released at steam, and everything except for cargo! drm-free on gog. you can download the marble nest from google drive, and i think you can still download the pathologic 2 2018 alpha if you sign up through their site.
i'd like to expand this page someday with more detailed info and new cool things like a pathologic transcript but i'm tired, so for now i'll just dump a bunch of links to cool ice-pick related stuff:

i also run a semi unofficial english language ice-pick lodge discord server which you can join here. it has (multiple) ice-picks in it and is occasionally active even though i barely poke it. don't worry, most of us don't bite.
