Spring 2022 Art | mari@macintosh.garden
Older drawings between April and June 2022! Bit of a very naive adventurous period for me, looking back. Some character designs, art for friends, and even a drawover!

That is actually the pillow I cuddle in real life, for the record. This was partially meant for an Art Fight ref (which didn't happen until after Art Fight and didn't include this drawing, natch). That said, his 2023 ref did finally include a redraw of this one, complete with the pillow!
Maldwyn with a torch! Looking incredibly concerned in some cave somewhere...I really like the lighting and texture on this one. Some of the shadows definitely don't make sense but that's to be expected.
A big reason I went with drawing a lot of Setters instead of a lot of Cammys was that I could give him a flat snoot and still have him look like a dog, unlike Cammy, whose entire head is a snoot. He didn't have an official outfit, so I decided on one here, some blues to contrast with his very red fur. Was it all an excuse to put Setter in sandals? Maybe. (And here's the sketch for funsies.)
Gift art for Devon! She wasn't doing too great and I really like her wildcat sona, so I wanted to have her doing some gardening stuff. I originally wanted the sunflower to be a fern, but I couldn't draw one, so it became kind of a wonky sunflower. Definitely one that should get a redraw! Cute idea, just executed like only someone four months into drawing could.
Wow, unfinished piece in the gallery! Sha-bam! Ka-zow! I dunno. There was a lot of talk of photo drawovers in the group at the time, and Caby and Savannah nailed theirs, natch. I wanted to take one of Caby's photos of some Welsh castle ruins and put Maldwyn in them. I kinda like this now, looking back, even if the big one piece robe I put him in makes no sense for him getting up there and sitting comfortably.
I was also getting a little experimental here! For fun, I started lining the building edges so I could potentially put my own color in as like an alternate backdrop or something. Didn't quite finish it, but it is a really neat effect. Rotoscoping vibes.
