December 2019

December 31st, 2019

I just completely fell off with my art gallery entries for like 5 months, apologies for that. But! Thanks to Cameron’s kind contributions, the art gallery is now using autosite, so updates should be much easier overall uwu.

December was a weak month for art, with one thing and another. Being switched between two tablets and my main art program failing on me sure didn’t help

As stated before, December was a weak month so you’ll mostly get experiments and doodles here. This one is something I doodled while testing out Krita. I quite like the strange hazy effect the brush used causes, like he’s not quite on this plane of existence.

Another experiment! I recall sitting at the dining table in my grandparents’ house to do this, something quick and simple to see what I could do. I still wasn’t very confident blotting down values so I sort of lined it instead. I think it used the same brush as the Wyn above, nice and spooky.

You ever just randomly make up a lad and then never use them again? This is one of those times. Some sort of fantasy-ish squirrel. Looks like a thoughtful lad to me <:3c I never coloured him in so the background’s overlapping him, poor boy.

Another thing drawn to appease my grandparents. They like guinea pigs, they do! Still not quite too sure about digital art though… This was also drawn on Krita which was great for about 3 hours until it broke for no discernable reason and I got fed up trying to look up my issue online and uninstalled it.

Listen I was looking through my files and I found this. Some kinda unfinished drawing of Afan escaping from a glowing blue lake? Perhaps it is a magical aura. Perhaps I was just making shit up as I went along and got bored. Whom knows.

Something nice and not unfinished to end this entry. A Cammy drawn in FireAlpaca I do believe, after Medibang went funny after I’d installed Krita. Don’t ask, we don’t know what happened. Anyhow, still fond of this Cammy, think he came out rather cute~

November 2019

November 30th, 2019

Doodled a good girl, my guinea pig Bergerac, while explaining to my grandparents how my art tablet works. I think it came out rather nicely, considering it was mostly mindlessly drawn. My automatic still seems to be guinea pigs <:3c

Character designs for Apricot Bay! The mayor and his assistant, a guinea pig (of course uwu) and a black leopard, one headstrong and a little dumb, and the other intelligent but painfully shy. They work together surprisingly well. Well enough to keep Apricot Bay going, at least.

After a little bit of misunderstanding from yours truly, shiny Cammy is now from space, has a lazer gun and the cosmos in his hair. (As opposed to the flowers, cosmos, in the usual badger boy’s hair, *cough cough* >_>)

Finally needled Cameron into playing Okami, and celebrated by drawing a mari in the wonderful inky style that game has. Have loved that game since I was a kid and it was partially what got me more seriously into art, and I spent a lot of time as a child attempting to draw in that style (usually on uh, dAmuro…) and I think it’s payed off~

Cameron decided that having an equivalent to Kapy would be neat, and he’d decided ages ago that if he had a big cat sona it’d be a snow leopard. So meet the new, supremely fluffy lad here! He’s yet to be named, but we’ve got ideas >w>

Another little doodle of the new lad. What a cutie! Also a bit of an experiment because I used coloured lines to suggest lighting rather than shading. A very high contrast way of doing it but I think it turned out alright here, especially with the whiskers adding to the effect.

October 2019

October 31st, 2019

Me and Cameron tested the possibility of an art stream in our ~secret server~ and I spent almost the entire time drawing garfs. Here is one of them, a particularly chunky garf, labelled correctly, for sure.

And another garf! This one is a yeehaw cowboy lad, based on a plushie. Is a good, soft boy. I’m love him.

Was asked by Jackomix to design a little oldschool Penelope for a project he wanted to start, so I did it. I used the Penelope design from the HTML tutorial rather than the one I use usually, thought it would suit the website more.

Felt spooky, also felt like drawing a Madeleine, ended up with this uwu. The dress reference was actually a Halloween costume for a little kid, but with a small amount of adjustment it suited her nicely. Something cute and simple to go with my more complicated, moody festive stuff.

If you didn’t quite make it to see the thing I’d put together for Halloween this year, here’s a sneak peek of what you missed! I put out a drawing and a paragraph or so of story every day for ten days leading up to the big day. Was fun but challenging to keep it up.

[00:04] Cammy: this is accurate

September 2019

September 30th, 2019

A cute lil pixel I did while testing a couple things. Mostly trying to get characters to hold objects and texturing. Think it came out pretty nicely overall. Cameron asked me to include this here because he liked it a lot :>

Another lil pixel, this time of my girl Kaplan! Figuring out her stripes was a curious experience, but I think it came out alright. Always good to try something new. Also the fluff, the fluff was also a bit of a challenge. Overall though, good stuff.

Please open this full size, it’s only a couple pixels larger than this but I had to shrink it to fit it on this page. Very annoying. Again just testing pixel-y stuff. Also was feeling the Autumn vibes while drawing it, as you might be able to tell~ Also, original flavour Caby in a dress? Unheard of!

First thing I did when I got the new tablet. Just a random winged, purple wolf. Looking rather bashful. Not finished because I couldn’t be bothered. But it was good practice. The new tablet is an in-screen one so it took some getting used to. Still rather pleased with the fur texture on the neck.

Me and Cameron were talking and I ended up with another little universe for our sonas to live in. It’s a simple one but I like it. They live in a cottage together, grow their own veg and hunt and wander through the forest during the Summer months. This is what they look like. Heavily inspired by Beatrix Potter, huge inspiration of mine.

Another comfy cottage Caby! The first illustration was done on my old tablet and this one was done using the new one. Can you see any difference? It sure feels different to use. Very much enjoying the watercolour style. Very textured.

August 2019

August 31st, 2019

Late again! Boy howdy…

Some gotdamn day I’ll get my shit sorted, oh my lordie. There’s a whole lot I’ve been very slowly getting done…

This month was mostly taken up by the Pennyverse reference sheets, which can be found here, so my offerings this month are meager. umu

Anyway! Art time.

Art fight thingy. Someone’s OC? I’unno. Rather pleased with the background, I think it came out looking pretty stylish. Plus the fur on the back legs, not sure how to describe it other than fluffy and good. Was a little rushed seeing that I had about a day left to draw it, but I think it came out alright, all things considered.

A last minute art fight I did against borb. And yes, I did win that attack chain >:3c. Is a Polaris using one of the many high quality words she’s learnt over the years.

While talking about character interactions, mostly Gonzo related, I doodled this. If you set off a Gonzo his first instinct is to hide, either by curling up into a ball, sprinting off at breakneck speeds or even building a little shelter out of twigs while rambling frantically about cave aliens. Seb is not amused.

Yes, yes I did paint a neopet. A kougra, as that’s my most recently adopted lad. Otherwise, was a painting practice based on and inspired by this photo. Just a whole lot of lovely colours and water patterns that I wanted to have a go at painting. I think it turned out alright.

Spent a little while thinking about an old character of mine and the world I had built when I was 13-14. It had elves and stuff like that in it. This lad’s called Dai, he’s a dark elf, he learns black magic, and he accidentally abandoned his best friend in the woods.

One of several Diesels I drew for the DeviantART group. He’s got a real smug grin and is dripping moisture, “the nastiest diesel to date btw” as Cameron wisely said.

A little animation edit I did of the Penny on this. I had to just guess the movements because I had no way of putting a gif together on my laptop while I was in France. It’s also a slightly different colour because the original one had an overlay and this one doesn’t. Otherwise, rather happy with it.

I ended August gotdamn tired, if I’m honest. September is the month of videogames and dumb doodles. Well, even dumber doodles~ Apologies for this being late! I’ll get back on track eventually… umu
