Neopets Buddy Icons

Neopets especially shows its age when you get a whiff of the buddy icons page in the referrals section. Yes, Neopets had many, many official buddy icons you could simply click on (assuming you had AOL Instant Messenger open) and have a shiny new buddy icon to let your friends know what you've been into lately.

We're talking nearly 800 of the damn things.

Now, AIM is long-gone and Neopets is (as of 2021) in the middle of a giant redesign to make the site less Flash-reliant and better on phones. As a result, who knows how much of its sprawling historical network will be lost after the old layout is officially deprecated. (Consider that Neopets disallows Wayback Machine crawls.) The referral section is chief among what's likely to be lost.

I've elected to save every last buddy icon on offer and put them on this page, sorted by pet, for your perusal. (Yes, Dr. Sloth's has a buddy icon section, but that's not as nice as a basic HTML gallery, is it?) Simply click on one to download it. When we're all using sites that don't mind 50x50 icons, I'll see you there with one of these.
