Why I Need This Blog

I write a lot. I have a lot of thoughts about a lot of things, and if I were to chase all of them down on the group blog, Letters From Somnolescent, it might as well become Letters From mariteaux. (We’re working on it. Folks gotta be in the mood.) There’s been a whole lot of ideas I’ve passed up writing about because they’re too niche for the group blog and I don’t have as much a point about them as I do a proper, edited essay.

It’s incredibly easy to set up a WordPress site on DreamHost. In fact, they kinda advertise it all over. A bit of database futzing later and a quick hack-together of a theme using fonts I had on hand and mini.css and here we are. Don’t expect me to put a whole lot of thought into what you see. It’s gonna be a lot of unfocused thoughts and opinions I’m well aware probably no one will read and updates on projects. If you do read, I’m humbled.

By that same token, don’t expect me to stop using the group blog either. Anything I have a Big, Genuine Point to Make about will probably go over there. Put it simply: it’s the difference between me rambling about a Counting Crows record in an afternoon and me taking weeks to dissect a Nirvana boxset. Either way, it’s for me as much as it is for you.
