You inch down the hill and crouch down alongside the river. A mosaic of smooth, rounded stones and pebbles makes up the riverbed, and the clean water gurgles as it goes over some of the bigger rocks. It's not very deep, but it is chilly; splashing some water on your face helps to wake you up a little. You even make a little friend, a tadpole with a long wiggly tail, but he darts away when you poke at him with a stick.
