Older drawings between January and March 2022! Here's where it all officially started. I have sketches and stuff going back into 2021, but I wasn't confident enough to make them proper pieces and now it's just a big pile of sheets of printer paper on top of my piano.
I still wasn't very confident after I started, but at the very least, I drew some stuff for Caby and came up with my first OC design!
Ah, bless him. He didn't have a name yet, and of course I've since completely redone his outfit, but I just felt like drawing a cat with a big staff. I actually woke up from a nightmare and drew this to chill out. It helps that I was avoiding several bigger, more committal drawings...
First time lighting a drawing at all, let alone very moodily from a local light source! I enjoy lighting and shadows a lot. I think I have all my time spent in level editors to thank for it coming so easily to me.
This was the Setter that sat on the placeholder for cammy.somnol for, like, the better part of 2022! Note the lack of tail. I still forget those sometimes.
Uh, habby Valentine's Day? Funky pose for Caby's boy Wyn (who I drew a lot early on, because he's simple and recognizable). I would later redraw this one a year later with a much more natural pose that I used myself as reference for(!).
Yep, more Wyn...y'know what, cute. These are cute. Wonky as shit and cute. I remember folks saying at the time that the one on the left worked really well, and now I understand why (hooray 3D space!).
And the drawing that kicked off 2022! Going from one of Caby's black cats to one of Caby's white cats. This, uh, has lots of problems, as to be expected for being my second-ever digital drawing, plus I really pussied out on doing the proper fantasy Wyn outfit with the cape and gloves and all, but ehhhh. It's a start! It's okay! He's dead in the eyes, but we're all good.
This isn't from Winter 2022, but when else am I going to link to this? I did this while Art Fight 2021 was going on. It's Caby's boy Dai, who used to be an elf and is now a serval in Pinede. I was so inexperienced, I didn't think to shrink down the sketch before I lined over it, and I was so nervous I asked Caby to stop giving me advice just so I could do what felt natural instead.
Still, it's got some charm to it, even if those arms are two different lengths, I didn't understand eyes or fur, and the background is just some weird lines. (I've had a hell of a time reimagining this for a redraw, not gonna lie.) And again, my first ever! It happened and it looks like a drawing! Blew my mind back then (which is why it took me six months to follow up on).
