These are sourced from a variety of sites, meant as a sampling of various real-world encoder output. Wherever an old-school MP3 crops up, I grab it and save it, with attribution if possible. Some were encoded by Fraunhofer (fastenc/l3enc/mp3enc) and programs that used FhG encoders like iTunes or Adobe Audition, some are from ancient versions of Lame, and others still are Xing encodes.

The use of a download utility like wget to grab entire directories is encouraged.
